What if I told you… one man could turn around an entire basketball program?
Will came to the Bel-Air Academy when the program was in shambles.
But, with his remarkable quickness and an uncanny ability to drain half-courters, he quickly turned them into a powerhouse.
In the end, though, Carlton couldn’t handle his cousin’s success.
We always talk about these clips, and I finally decided to look them up today. Just as good as I remembered.

Now I’m no basketball expert, but I’m feeling inclined to make some observations:
1. Will’s shot selection seems a bit questionable. Half-courter off the tip? No-look, behind the back shot from the wing?
2. Bel-Air led 62-21 with 6 seconds left in the game. Instead of dribbling out the clock, Will opts to drive baseline for the reverse dunk. Can’t imagine the opposing coach was thrilled about that.
3. By my most generous estimation, that court seems to be half the size of a normal court. Just look at the lane when Will stands in it…he practically takes up the whole thing. Also, that hoop can’t be any taller than 8 feet and the backboard appears to be made out of some sort of flexible plastic.
4. Who exactly are these individuals playing on these teams? They are extraordinarily bad and inexplicably clumsy. You’d think anyone who has ever watched basketball could watch this scene and demand that it be redone. But I guess that’s what makes sports in sitcoms so much fun.
5. Bel-Air should protest the outcome of that final game. The fight over the ball between Carlton and Will was a clear travel…should have been ball out of bounds to the guests. I know what you’re thinking…Kevin, they were down three. Do you really expect Will to be able to steal the inbounds pass and make a half-courter all in one motion? Yes. In fact, I think that would have been the most likely outcome.
